History of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya as told by Juan Aliac

Solano was founded in 1767 by Pr. Alejandro Vidad with the original name of Lumabang which means Cave. In 1850, however, it became a barrio of Bayombong for few Gaddang populations. In the year 1856 Don Fernando Aggabao and Don Vicente Lingayu went to Ilocos Province to call some of the Ilocano peoples. The families of the Ilocanos came first to Lunabang. They were Ramiro, Soto, Tañgunan, Hermozo, Butac, Padre, and other families.

The Gaddangs contributed palay for their foods and everything needed. The Ilocanos occupied the place of Ragabaag in the easternpart of Lumabang. At the time of arrival of the Ilocano peoples, Don Andres Manat and Don Eusebio Alindada became Cabeza de Baranggay. Don Fernando Aggabao got one banana plant what we called now Batna Iloco (Dippig). Lumabung became Independent town in the year 1860. Fr. Alejandro Vidad baptized Lumabang and changed now a new name bearing Solano in honor of the wife of Governador Cillo Solano. The townsite consisting of 14 wide street each north to south and east, west has 168 square blocks with an area of one hectare. It was planned and undertaken by Pr. Juan Villaverdo.
